Sorcha
Sorcha studied illustration at Cambridge School of Art and exhibited at New Designers in 2015.
Sorcha is a designer on the Tesco team. She completed a two week placement working for both Hallmark and Tigerprint during the summer she graduated. In the new year Sorcha was offered a temporary maternity cover contract on the Tesco team. When that ended she was offered a full time designer role and has been here ever since! She recently reduced her hours to three days a week to explore the world of freelance.
How would you describe yourself in three words?
Determined - Curious - Passionate
What has been your biggest achievement since starting here?
I have really enjoyed working on a huge variety of styles and subjects which I’d never tried before, from photography to designing for kids. It’s been a great opportunity to learn new skills and develop my work and style.
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced?
The technical side of the job has been tricky as there is just so much to learn!
What advice would you give new designers wanting to break into the industry?
Be prepared to keep learning and trying lots of new things. I think it’s important to keep making new work and being pro-active in looking for opportunities in the industry.
What would your superpower be?
I’d love to be able to read peoples minds, I like to hear an honest opinion on my work!
