How would you describe yourself in three words?
Spontaneous, passionate, optimistic
How did you become a designer at Hallmark/Tigerprint?
I was finishing off my final degree show at Camberwell College and decided to devote a few days to working on the Gifted competition– I really wanted to win the placement, so I trusted my gut, submitted my entry and won!
What has been your biggest achievement since starting here?
Initially I was awarded a three-month placement, it was then extended by another three months and then by another six. After that I was awarded a permanent designer position with a decent wage– my greatest achievement to date!
I’m also proud of the ranges that I’ve designed for M&S. One of my favourites is called Smiles, but there’s also Tutti Fruity, Baby Shower and some ranges within Social Stationery– you can check them out in store!
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced?
Christmas is one of our biggest launches and we have to work to tight timescales and under a lot of pressure. It can be hard to work to last-minute briefs, but everyone is very supportive and kind, so that helps!
What advice would you give new designers wanting to break into the industry?
Be brave, be yourself and be nice to people. And always try new things– it’s the only way to succeed!
What would your superpower be?
The power to make people laugh, and to think differently!
