How would you describe yourself in three words?
Passionate, individual, Sir-Laugh-a-lot
How did you become a designer at Hallmark/Tigerprint?
I attended New Designers 2014 and was approached by Hallmark who invited me to work with them on a two-week long internship. While I was there a vacancy for an Illustrator opened up with Tigerprint. I applied and attended the interview where my portfolio was viewed and after undertaking a mini project, I was invited to join the tiger den!
What has been your biggest achievement since starting here?
My biggest achievement was during my first month at Tigerprint when I created a full Christmas range of giftwrap and stationery that all went into store. That and when I took part in some hula-hooping on the Hallmark lawn and surprised myself by being quite good!
What’s the biggest challenge you’ve faced?
My biggest challenge has been learning to tailor my quirky style to be more commercial by getting to know our consumers and developing my style to fit their needs.
What advice would you give new designers wanting to break into the industry?
1. Know your audience
2. Do your research
3. Never give up!
What would your superpower be?
Hmmm the ability to turn myself into a giant, then I could stomp around like Godzilla eating EVERYTHING in sight whilst being chased by helicopters!
